TRL's widely respected Incident Investigation and Reconstruction Group consists of expert scientists, engineers and technicians, who specialise in the forensic investigation of incidents involving road traffic, the road environment and road user behaviour.
Highway maintenance issues are often brought to the fore when investigating incidents that occurred in inclement weather, such as when road surfaces exhibit areas of surface water, frost, ice, snow, etc.
In all such cases it is important not only to have a good understanding of the physical state of the highway environment at the time of the incident but also the policies and systems operated by the responsible highway authority and how they compare to national best practice standards.
TRL possesses unparalleled expertise in the highway field, with a number of internationally recognised experts in highway design, construction and maintenance. Our expertise includes:
Peter Dixon is a Principal Consultant in the Incident Investigation & Reconstruction Group at TRL. He specialises in the field of highway engineering and has dealt with highway infrastructure design and maintenance matters for 40 years.
