North Wales authorities appoint nine law firms to framework agreement

A consortium of local authorities in North Wales has named nine law firms to a major legal services framework agreement.

The consortium comprises Anglesey County Council, Gwynedd Council, Conwy County Borough Council, Denbighshire County Council, Flintshire County Council and Wrexham County Borough Council. The framework will be made available to a range of other authorities and public bodies.

Some 15 firms tendered for the work. The nine firms selected were:

  • Berrymans Lace Mawer: criminal and civil litigation North East Wales; criminal and civil litigation, North West Wales
  • Beachcroft: property; construction; environment
  • Bevan Brittan: adult services and mental health; environment
  • Cobbetts: construction; HR, health and safety, employment and pensions
  • Geldards: property; corporate
  • Hill Dickinson: adult services and mental health
  • Hugh James: construction; HR, health and safety, employment and pensions; criminal and civil litigation North West Wales; criminal and civil litigation, North East Wales
  • Leonie Cowen & Associates: corporate
  • Weightmans: property; HR, health and safety, employment and pensions; criminal and civil litigation North West Wales; criminal and civil litigation, North East Wales; adult services and mental health; corporate.

The award criteria were described as the most economically advantageous tender in terms of: operational and intellectual capacity to perform (weighting 30%); operating the work allocation with minimum input (15%); capacity to attend specific locations within the geographic area (10%); delivery of value added services (5%); price (40%).
