The legislation relating to the Acquisition of Communications Data is changing.

Chapter 2 of Part 1 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA) is incrementally being replaced by the Investigatory Powers Act 2016 from May 2019. By the end of 2019 this part of RIPA will be repealed completely.

This webinar will discuss the key changes including the new roles and processes for acquiring communications data for the purposes of investigations. Our expert speaker will explain the new terms including “entity data” and “event data”, the “serious crime” threshold and when it applies, the role of OCDA and IPCO. Reference will also be made to the new Communications Data Codes of Practice (November 2018) and the role of the National Anti-Fraud Network (NAFN).

This webinar is suitable for all those who need to lawfully acquire communications data for the purposes of criminal investigations including trading standards officers, environmental health officers, fraud investigators and regulators.
