Anthony Collins to open in Manchester as it hails local government focus

Anthony Collins Solicitors has announced plans to open in Manchester after a record-breaking year where profits jumped 32% to £5.3m.

The Birmingham-based law firm said its revenue for the 2017/18 financial year was £19.5m and that a strategic focus on local government had paid significant dividends.

Anthony Collins Solicitors has also expanded its operations by 30 staff, taking its total workforce to 287, including 29 partners.

Peter Hubbard, Senior Partner at Anthony Collins Solicitors, said: “These extremely positive financial results are a direct consequence of the hard work of all those at Anthony Collins Solicitors. From charities to education, private individuals to housing; our teams of sector specialists are driven by our commitment to improve not only individuals’ lives but also communities and wider society.

“We are privileged to work with clients nationally who share our purpose of building a stronger society and the more we explain why we are in business together, the more clients we attract who have a similar outlook.

“A strategic focus on the local government sector has come to fruition, with highlights including appointment to the EM Lawshare consortium and advising the West Midlands Housing Association Partnership on increasing housing investment in the region.”

The law firm highlighted its appointment to panels run by EM Lawshare, housing association L&Q, the Methodist Church Legal Framework and The Kemnal Academies Trust (TKAT) as significant wins.

It said the new offices in Manchester were “primarily aimed at attracting lawyers working in the North West who want to work for a social purpose law firm”, but added that it would also help the firm service a number of existing and new clients in the region.

“These include local authorities using the North West Legal Services Panel, the Co-operatives sector and numerous North-West-based housing associations such as Riverside Group and Trafford HT, it said.

Hubbard added: “Our success so far has provided us with great foundations to build from, and we see this expansion into the North West as an important step in securing our position as the leading UK social purpose law firm.

“Having a second office will provide us with an opportunity to recruit more talented people who share our passion for change as we continue to grow, both financially and in terms of our social impact.”
