Public and planning law barristers among 119 new QCs

Barristers from 39 Essex Chambers, 11KBW, Arden Chambers and Francis Taylor Building are among the 119 new Queen’s Counsel, it has been revealed.

  • Jon Holl-Allen, Serjeant’s Inn Chambers (clinical negligence, professional discipline)
  • Graeme Keen, Landmark Chambers (planning and environmental law)
  • Sam King, 4 Paper Buildings (children’s law)
  • Andrew Kinnier, Henderson Chambers (product liability, public procurement, public and administrative law)
  • Sarah Lambert, 1 Crown Office Row (clinical negligence and costs)
  • Vanessa Marshall, 7 Bedford Row (medical law)
  • Bradley Martin, 2 Temple Gardens (clinical negligence)
  • John McCafferty, Arden Chambers (housing law)
  • Stuart McKechnie, 9 Gough Square (personal injury, clinical negligence)
  • Vanessa Meachin, 3PB (children’s law)
  • Parishil Patel, 39 Essex Chambers (public law)
  • Jeremy Phillips, Francis Taylor Building (licensing, regulatory law)

Sir Alex Allan, chair of the selection panel, said concerns remained about the comparatively low number of female applicants. Thirty-two out of the 119 successful applicants were women.

However, he said he was pleased to note that a record number of BAME applicants were appointed (18).

Five solicitor advocates out of the ten who applied were successful.
